Frolicks and Forts

Mom and I spent all of Thanksgiving break at LaLa's house. LaLa is mom's mom! I love to play at LaLa's house! It is really big compared to mom's room at the apartment, so I can run around and explore a lot more!  I jump from the couch to the chair and romp around as long as I can until mom puts me back into the bathroom for being too hyper! I particularly like to dig my claws into LaLa's blue chairs in the front room! She isn't very happy with me about that, but it is so satisfying! ::little purr of glee:: Mom took a picture of me in one of the blue chairs yesterday. This chair happens to be LaLa's favourite reading chair. I like it too!
Mom is trying to teach me to stay off LaLa's dinning room table. I used to be able to lounge up there and see everything, but mom has started squirting me with a water bottle. I don't like that one little bit! So now I have to be sure to be very sneaky about hopping up there.

Over Thanksgiving break, mom's little cousin Mikayla (Mika) came over to play! She is 10 years old and I like her. She and mom decided to make me a fort out of boxes! They worked on it for a couple hours and created a really fun place for me to play! It is made out of 3 boxes, and has 3 entrances and a hanging bell ball for me to play with. Oh, and it has a drawbridge door that Mika thought up! Mika drew and wrote things all over the fort. She called it "Abelard's Club and Cafe" and wrote cool things like "goth cats wanted" and "cats rule"! I love my fort! Mom says she will make it even bigger for me later!

Well, rainy days make me extra hyper, so I must go play now!

Lucky Bamboo is NOT Lucky for Me

Meow and nosey-nosey!
The Friday morning before Thanksgiving, I decided I was going to begin to jump on the taller pieces of furniture in mom's room. I attempted the dresser and made it! I was so excited to explore all of mom's stuff up there-- jewelry, make up, and some sort of plant! Us cats have a natural desire to eat greens and so I began to chomp on mom's "Lucky Bamboo" (dracaena plant). I liked it! But mom got upset! She spent some time looking up information on her laptop and began to get very worried. "Abey," she said. "You ate a toxic plant!" Very quickly she called the vet and decided she had to take me in to the cat hospital. So we headed to the vet. He was a strange man and poked on me and then shut me in a cage for a long time. The hospital people put something sharp in my leg. It hurt! I didn't see mom again until it was dark. After she picked me up, mom explained that the vet had told her he would watch me all day and make sure I was okay. Apparently the sharp thing that hurt me was an IV for fluids to make sure I wouldn't get dehydrated if I got sick from the plant!
Mom moved the plant and has bought me wheat grass to munch on instead!
Mom wanted me to add something about making sure to check to see if your houseplants are safe for your cats on ASPCA! Even though I got actually did get lucky and didn't get sick, I don't want any of my fellow felines to have to make a trip to the vet because of a silly plant!

Quand je dors...

Meow and nosey-nosey!
I have been rather rambunctious the last couple of days. Mom says I have been very bad. I admit that biting her face while she was trying to take a nap was probably not the nicest thing to do and that the curtains have several more pulls in them. ::tiny purr of glee:: Mom bought a new toy yesterday for me to play with and chew on, so I have been much nicer to her today as I now have my feathered fish toy to take my aggression out on. I even calmed down enough to snuggle with her this morning!
Speaking of snuggling, I love to snuggle up to Mom when I'm sleepy. I curl up on the pillow next to her head and fall asleep or stretch out on her chest and tummy.  That leads me to the topic of sleep. Mom laughs at me a lot when I sleep. She says I  don't sleep like a normal cat. So I like to stretch out when I sleep? So what? I am putting up photos Mom has taken of me sleeping so you can vote on whether or not I sleep like a normal cat.

See? I sleep normally, right?! Silly Mom...
::yawn:: Wow, all this talk about naps has made me quite tired! I think I will go curl up and rest a while.

My Favourite Things

Meow and nosey-nosey!
I'm a little ADD according to Mom (whatever that means), so this is actually a continuation from my first post. I wanted to write a little more about what I like to do! Aside form playing with my toys and sitting in the window, I also like several other things. One of my favourite things is climbing! I love to climb up Mom's bed or green rocker chair and pounce on my toys on the floor! At night, when I am confined to the closet (her reasoning for this is because she likes sleep and doesn't want me playing chase-the-tail on her head at night), I climb up into Mom's shoe box and other things.
Speaking of shoes, I'm particularly fond of chewing on Mom's tennis shoes. Actually, I like chewing on pretty much anything, really. My grown-cat teeth are coming in and it feels good to gnaw on things. I chew on shoes, pencils, power cords (Mom has to hide them!), blankets, furniture, and books! Mom gets mad about some of those things... she was pretty upset when I chewed on her favourite leather purse (but it felt soooo good!).
Another thing I love to do is play games in Mom's bed. I like to climb up the bed underneath the comforter and scamper around. Sometimes I chase my tail. Other times, I just run around and play with Mom's feet. This is my favourite game! Mom isn't very fond of it when she is trying to study.
Oh! A crow outside! Gotta go watch it!

Nosey-Nosey

Nosey-nosey is, afterall, how us cats greet each other. But in people terms, "hello!"
My name is Abey (short for Abelard). Mom named me after some human medieval historical figure I don't know about, but she says it fits me because the man was loyal, smart, stubborn, and a bit of a trouble maker. Mom found me at Oak Glen four weeks ago. I was the last of four kittens being given away. My brother and sisters had already been taken. Mom says she just couldn't leave me, so that's how I got my new home. I was rather skittish at first, but pretty soon Mom and I got along famously.
This week, I am 11 weeks old! Apparently that means that I'm the equivalent to a 7 or 8 year old person. Mom says that explains why I'm so ridiculously rambunctious. I don't think I'm that bad. Although occasionally I do play with the curtains and climb on the dinning room chairs when I know I'm not supposed to... But sometimes I think it is funny to see Mom annoyed with me!
One of my favourite things to do is sit up in the window next to Mom's bed. Yesterday was a windy day and I wanted to go out and play with the leaves so bad! But Mom says I'm only an indoor cat and that outside is too dangerous for kittens. I'm a scrapper! I think I could handle it!
Aside from the window, I like to play with my toys. I have a ribbon, a vibrating lady bug toy, bell balls, a cat-nip mouse, and even a feather toy! My feather toy doesn't have many feathers left on it, though... I chewed them off. I want a new one! Oh! Mom got me a playhouse, too! It has a hanging bell ball, a scratcher, and ribbons on it. Sometimes I go inside the playhouse and chase my tail. Its fun to run round and round inside it!
Well, it was nice to meet you! I have some serious playing to do right now, so I will have to come back and tell you more about my life later.
